Casey and I are up to our eyeballs with packing. I'm in the mode of lets get rid of everything.. and that should be obvious with Saturday's blog post. Easy Street Records didn't have a check signer on Saturday so I stopped by today to pick up my check. I'm still in shock that after all these years I got a check from them. Clearly I've spent more in the store than this check especially because I have this strange OCD thing where I have to buy compact discs in multiples of three. So now I am reevaluating how I am going to purchase music. Whenever I see a band on tour 85% of the time I purchase something that they are selling... Is this still a practice I'll be doing? Will I simply encode the compact disc and get rid of it?? The only compact discs I didn't sell East Street where ones that were made by hand by the artists or record labels (eg: Ball of Wax Quarterly, Karl Blau's beautiful Kelp series or a compact disc that has been inserted in a sewn and altered old pillowcase and silkscreened, like Cock and Swan's first release). I feel like I will continue to buy those... but will I buy the next hot album on compact disc? Probably not. Tune in next week for... What about Vinyl???

I finally did it. I went ahead and sold majority of my compact discs at Easy Street Record. Check out the used section in the next few days to say hello to all my old compact discs. Now I just need to sell all my compact discs that are sitting in my parents' basement in New York.

Yesterday when I got home from work there was a note left by FedEx that they tried to deliver a package and that it needed to be signed for. I had no idea who this was from or what it was. Today I worked in the afternoon from home waiting for the arrival if my mysterious package. It was a package from my dear friend Dana.

(The backstory: I went to visit Dana last January in LA and we took a trip down to the Salton Sea, Salvation Mountain and Slab City in Southern California. We went to take photographs and to catch up. The lens I was using was a busted Canon 50mm 1.4. I complained about it most of the morning and Dana let me use her Canon 17-35mm ultrasonic lens. I was in heaven. it was a wonderful, sharp, fast, fun lens. She said when she upgraded to Full Frame Digital SLR that she would sell me this lens for a "good price". A year pasted by and I was still using lenes that I constantly complained about forgetting about the option to buy Dana's lens.)

I open the box and there were three wrapped gifts inside. I opened the first one to find a 77mm UV filter. I laughed and said to myself "That's cute.. That wont fit any of the lenes I own". Opening the second wrapper I saw a lens hood (also the same size). I then said to myself "NO, SHE DID NOT SEND ME WHAT I THINK SHE DID!!!". When I opened the third gift I was freaking out. It was the lens I used when I went down to visit with Dana. After hyperventilating for a little bit I called Dana to thank her. I haven't had a working lens I liked using for over seven years. This will make photographing so much more fun. Thank you Dana!

Today was a nice lazy day off. To make it even better I got a call from my friend Michael Ryan saying his has something to bring me. He didn't tell me on the phone what it was so I was surprised when I opened up the door with Michael holding my order from PIAPTK Records. My order of Wooden Wand Archives Volume 3, a 6 LP (gold vinyl) box set, in a wooden box. Mike Dixon at PIAPTK really knows how to put out releases. I can't wait to spend some time with these in the upcoming weeks. It was a nice treat to get these a day before they are being shipped out.

Last night Casey and I celebrated entering 2012 at our quiet home watching movies on Netflix. It was so nice to wake up on New Years Day without having a hangover.

Tonight I ended up at The Bus Stop for Still Drunk Sunday to play a few rounds of bingo. I didn't win bingo tonight but I'm excited to see what luck 2012 will eventually bring me.

This will be the last red meat and fried food that I eat until April 1, 2012. On January 2, 2012 I am going to start eliminating alcohol as well. I decided to start with a three month goal to see how it goes. I would ideally like to keep up this lifestyle past April 1, 2012... but we will see how it goes.

If you see me at the bars I'll take a sodawater, with a splash of cranberry juice & lime.

Tonight I DJ'ed with my good friend Michael Ryan at Hollow Earth Radio. After my radio show there was a party hosted by Central Sounds (a radio show on Hollow Earth Radio specializing in the Central District in Seattle). This is a photograph of OC Notes breaking things down with the 2,011 best songs of the last 2,011 years. It was a fun night and a chill vibe... a good way to start saying goodbye to 2011.

Last night Sarah had a few of us over for a Christmas Eve dinner. It was absolutely lovely. There was wonderful food and drinks provided by Sarah and a digital log keeping us toasty in Sarah's apartment. The rest of the guests came with wine and wonderful conversation. Casey also made a delicious dessert that we all did a job on.

Tonight my parents, Casey & I went to Bear Mountain so celebrate the winter holidays. We were upset when we drove up there to find Bear Mountain to be a ghost town. My father came up with the idea to drive into NYC to see the tree displayed at Rockefeller Center. It was Casey's first time seeing the tree display at Rockefeller Center. We also checked out some of the nearby window displays and sat down for some hot chocolate.

Today was the rehearsal for Tonjia and Josh's wedding. The ceremony is at the High Alpine Chapel in Issaquah. It shares a parking lot with Boehms Candies. mmmm.... Chocolate. I'm happy to be part of Tonjia and Josh's special day.

Casey and I went to a engagement party for Josh and Tonjia today. It was a lovely lunch at The Tuscan Tea Room in West Seattle. Renee hosted the lunch and she had everyone in stitches with her humor. She is a real spicy one. Before the lunch we got to spend some time with Casey's Mom. She made us a LARGE batch of her famous snickerdoodles cookies. In the evening we met up with someone at Madison Pub. Busy, Busy day.

Today I tried something new on my lunch break. I went to Mindfulness Meditation at the Frye Art Museum.
I really enjoyed it and hope to be able to go every week (depending on my work schedule). After meditation we went to the Cafe at the Frye for lunch. It was a nice break in the middle of the day.
